It has been argued that the existence of cigarette industries in this country have given some negative effect.

A. First, it has caused the death rate to increase

On the other side, the existence of cigarette industries in this country also has given positive effect.

A.First, these industries have a huge impact on Indonesian’s financial condition; just for     information, cigarette industries are one of the main contributors to the national income.

B. Second, cigarette industries are the industry with so many labors. 

IV. Conclusion

It can be seen that despite causing negative effect, cigarette industries have some big positive effect on this country.  After looking at both sides, I think it is too risky if we close down cigarette industries.

Should We Close Cigarette Industries?

            Cigarette industries are one of the biggest industries in Indonesia.  Ten percent of Indonesian people are involved in these industries.  These industries also have huge impact on the national income.  However, for medical reason there are many institutions want to close down cigarette industry to save Indonesian people from the danger of cigarette.  So, do you think that is such good idea to close down cigarette industries in Indonesia?  Before deciding whether cigarette industries should be close down or not, let us consider the two points of view of this of this case.

            It has been argued that the existence of cigarette industries in this country have given some negative effect.  First, it has caused the death rate to increase.  According to Margareth Chan, general director of WHO, cigarette has make 5, 4 million people died per a year because of cancer and heart disease.  Base on my internet research, Cigarette contains carcinogenic, the hazardous substance that cause cancer.  Not only that, but also it contains 4000 chemical substance that if it is consumed in long-term it will cause the death.  Second, cigarette industries cause many people live in poverty trap.  Base on central bureau of statistics surveys in 2006, the poorest Indonesian family spent 12% of their income to buy cigarette.  It’s so much bigger than their expense for health and education.  That happened because cigarette makes people being addicted.  For those reason some people want cigarette industries to be close down.

            On the other side, the existence of cigarette industries in this country also has given positive effect.  First, these industries have a huge impact on Indonesian’s financial condition; just for information, cigarette industries are one of the main contributors to the national income.  The national income from this industry is so fantastic; just from its tax; the government gets Rp 29, 25 billion or 90% of the national total national of this country.  Second, cigarette industries are the industry with so many labors.  According to ministry of Industry Statistics, the number of people who depend their lives on these industries has reached 6.1 million people, including the workers in the Factory, tobacco’s farmer, kiosk seller, and soon.  For those reasons, some people feel the existence of cigarette industries is very important.
